THEATRE ARTS DEPARTMENT

The Citrus College Theatre Arts Department offers a creative learning program aimed at developing acting, directing and technical skills necessary for transfer to a four-year university or to a professional training school. In addition, classes for personal enrichment are available.

PROGRAM CONTENT

The Theatre Arts Department's emphasis is in acting, directing, and technical theatre. You will receive training in character development, rehearsal technique, monologue and scene study, audition preparation, voice and movement, stage direction, script analysis and technical theatre. The Citrus College Little Theatre offers an intimate venue for developing and practicing your skills before live audiences.

The Theatre Arts Department puts on two full-length productions a year, as well as a Christmas show and the popular Summer Dinner Theatre program. In spring 2002, students in a Citrus production of “Our Country’s Good” were selected for performance consideration at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. In Spring of 2003, the Theater Arts Department performed “The Skin of Our Teeth”. The full production may be performed in Spring 2004 at the American College Theatre Festival at CSU San Bernardino.

The Theatre Arts Department provides community outreach programs that include a summer program entitled Theatre for Youth offered through the Continuing Education Office. Theatre for Young Audiences and Shakespeare in Production are offered during the regular academic year. When available, students may also take advantage of a one-month summer intensive training session on the Citrus College campus presented by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
