WomenÍs Ensemble
Rhapsody In Rhythm
The Citrus College Women’s Ensemble’s rich harmonies
and exciting repertoire have been delighting audiences as one
of the premier performance groups in Southern California. Founded
in 1989 by Douglas Austin (Shrope)
and under the direction of Keely Milliken,
the students attend daily classes in choral singing, vocal technique,
and Musical Theatre performance
methods. They also participate in dance classes with their choreographer,
Yesenia ValVerde,
learning Ballet, Jazz, and Commercial dance styles.
In addition to classes, these multi-talented ladies annually
share a variety of music in performance venues throughout the
United States and abroad. During their busy holiday season, the
ensemble not only appears in Citrus’ Haugh
Performing Arts Center but also travels from the prestigious
Los Angeles Country Club to the Long Beach Marriott Hotel and
similar settings in Palm Springs, sharing the gift of music.
Each Spring, the troupe also performs contemporary pop hits,
foot-stomping country favorites, patriotic melodies, Broadway
show tunes, and standards in the Citrus College Little Theater,
as well as venues nationally and overseas. Rhapsody in Rhythm
performs at various country clubs, for special engagements throughout
the Southland, and in recent years has presented classical concerts
at New York’s illustrious St. Patrick’s Cathedral
and the United Nations. They have also showcased a variety of
popular favorites for the Disney Resorts as well as performances
in Jamaica, the Bahamas, the Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera
aboard Carnival and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
