VOICE CLASSES

Citrus College offers vocal training of every style at all levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Many classes are filled to capacity each semester because of the reputation of the high quality of instruction. Additionally, Citrus offers an extensive Applied Music/Individual Instruction program. Whether students study voice at Citrus for personal pleasure, or to prepare for a career in pop, gospel, country, studio recording, musical theatre or classical singing, they can be assured of receiving the best training available. Voice teachers from Citrus can be heard performing currently throughout the United States. Former voice students of Citrus College have gone on to have major careers on Broadway, in pop music, and at the highest levels of operatic performance. Carol VanNess, who attended Citrus College, was chosen by Luciano Pavarotti to be his Tosca in his final farewell to opera in London. Martin Green, coordinator of voice classes, has studied voice teaching techniques from Seth Riggs (teacher of Natalie Cole, Luther Vandross, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder and others), and also from Michael Sells of Indiana University and Lara Browning of the San Francisco Opera. His students have sung throughout the world. "Our goal", says Mr. Green, "is to teach singers to achieve the most natural and free vocal technique in whatever musical style they choose to perform".
