THE CITRUS SUMMER CONSERVATORY (C.S.C.)

The Citrus Summer Conservatory is a 5-week curriculum designed for High School students (Incoming High School freshman through incoming College freshman) and Community College students who are (due to contractual obligations) no older than 19 years of age as of 7/23/11. Participants gain extensive experience in all phases of musical theatre performance as they earn 4units of college credit. The program includes workshops and lectures with visiting guest artists and industry professionals. Additionally, every student has the opportunity to be showcased in our fully staged musical theatre production of Les Miserables. Participants will train with some of the finest directors, choreographers, working professionals and educators in the college system today. The combination of classroom knowledge and professional experience offered by our instructors make Citrus uniquely qualified to offer this exciting educational opportunity to talented and deserving young artists.

Auditions will be held on Saturday May 14th, 2011 at 9:00am in the Citrus College Fine and Performing Arts Building. Please bring sheet music from a pop tune or a musical theatre selection in the key in which you plan to sing and dress appropriately for the dance audition. A pianist will be provided.

Fee for the 5-week program, which covers the cost of unit, student fees (parking not included) and other production fees, is $175.00.

The course begins on Monday, June 20th and continues through Saturday, July 23rd, 2011. Performances will be in Citrus College's Haugh Performing Arts Center, Friday, July 22nd, 2011 at 8 pm and Saturday, July 23rd, 2011 at 2 pm. Students enrolled in the Conservatory will participate Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 12:30pm June 20th through July 15th AND an extended time of 9:00am-4:00pm Monday July 18th through Friday July 22nd.

This program would be particularly valuable to:
High School Students with an interest in Musical Theatre
Community College students with an emphasis in performance
Performers looking to improve their basic skills
