INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Citrus College has one of the finest and most enterprising Music Departments in Southern California. The Instrumental Music Program offers amazing facilities, diverse performance opportunities, and classes taught by world-class faculty with extensive professional industry experience.

Citrus offers a variety of top-notch performance ensembles to prepare you for a successful career in music. Our music ensembles have received national and international acclaim and regularly perform concerts in Hawaii, Japan and Europe. Many Citrus students have gone on to perform with major rock acts such as No Doubt, Green Day and The Offspring; on Broadway, and on cruise ships. Some choose to continue their training at prestigious music conservatories.

As an instrumental music student at Citrus College, you’ll have access to the state-of-the-art Entertainment Technology Complex, which includes the 1,440-seat Haugh Performing Arts Center, two world-class recording studios; two mixing suites, digital post production facilities, and full dance and drama studios. Rub elbows with entertainment industry clients who have used our facilities for their musical productions including Disney, Nickelodeon, and The Royal Crown Revue.

Citrus faculty and students have performed with a variety of premier talents in the music industry, such as Gwen Stefani, Kevin Lyman (the Warped Tour), John Avila (Oingo Boingo, Real Big Fish), and Sammy Nestico and have recorded in TV commercials, on HBO and feature movies such as The Mighty Ducks III.

At Citrus you will develop your musicianship in the Applied Music / Individual Instruction Program, where you will get the personal instruction needed to reach your full potential as a musician. Classes in song writing, electronic music, improvisation, and recording arts will help prepare you for the expanding role of today’s musician, and you will develop a comprehensive musicianship studying music fundamentals, harmony, musicianship and music history.

Be among those that have gone on to enjoy success as musicians and music educators, by starting the pursuit of your musical dreams at Citrus College!
